OUTLINE
Tere Naam
is the film that
can boost Salman
Khan'scareer.The
media hype about
'Tere Naam' being
Salman Khan's love
story with Aishwarya
Rai, seems real
rather then reel.
Even the makers
are cashing in on
this. Besides, this
is Salman's first
release after his
recent controversies
with media and co-stars.
This combined with
the sympathy wave
has given the film
a fabulous initial.
Satish Kaushik's
TERE NAAM lives
up to the hype and
expectations, besides
doing full justice
to the three originals
-- SETHU (Tamil),
SESHU (Telugu) and
HUCCHA(Kannada).
Living up to the
expectations and
maintaining the
essence of the original
is specialty of
Tere Naam.

STORY LINE
Tere Naam' is
the story of Radhe
Mohan (Salman Khan),
a college bully
but a gem at heart.
He lives with his
brother (Sachin
Khedekar), a
doting sister-in-law,
and their daughter.
Radhe comes across
Nirjara (Bhumika
Chawla), daughter
of a temple priest
who is timid by
nature and has just
entered the city
college.
Radhe
loses his heart
to her for her simplicity
and innocence and
dreams of making
her life partner
but she does not
reciprocate his
feelings and rejects
him.
The
heartbroken Radhe
then goes to the
extreme of kidnapping
her, torturing her.Unknowingly,
Radhe saves Nirjara's
elder sister from
an adversity. Rameshwar
(Ravi Kissen),
Nirjara's fiancé,
informs her of this
incident. Eventually
girl falls in love
with him. But here
comes twist. Before
Nirjara can express
her love to Radhe,
something drastic
happens...
Radhe
loses his sanity
after a violent
attack by gangsters,
as he had interfered
in their sleazy
business. What happens
next is a real shock
to the audience

ANALYSIS
TERE NAAM
primarily revolves
around two simple
characters. The
reasons of rejection
from girl side and
reasons of bringing
them together are
realistic and convincing.
Director
Satish Kaushik
opens the cards
with full sincerity
making people realize
opposites don't
attract always,
as the hero is a
vagabond, the girl
is a simpleton.
The rejection to
the hero builds
up convincingly
and the change of
events at the interval
point catches you
unaware. The second
half starts off
brilliantly, the
kidnapping sequence
by the hero is amongst
the best sequences
of the enterprise
and the pace is
maintained right
till the hero lands
up in the hospital.
But
as the focus shifts
to the traditional
shelter for the
mentally imbalanced,
(recommended by
doctor, which is
surely a big set
back) the pace slackens.
Fortunately, the
last half-an-hour
gathers momentum
yet again and the
sequence of events,
right till the finale,
are heart-rending.

Emotional
audience may not
take to the ending
whole-heartedly,
mainly because we
are more into happy
ending. But tragic
ends have gone down
very well for Instance:
EK DUUJE KE LIYE
and QAYAMAT SE
QAYAMAT TAK.
Director
Satish Kaushik
has done justice
to the film but
still it does not
make a mark on audience
and his skills fail
at some places.
He is most comfortable
in dramatic sequences,
in this film too,
he executes the
dramatic portions
with full justice,
and Even the climax
is effective that
heart goes out to
the lovers!
Himesh Reshammiya's
music is average,
but goes well with
the mood of the
film. " Man basia
" is beautiful number
sung by Alka
Yagnik, "Odhni",
"o jana" and "Chand"
are good to hear.
Cinematography,
S. Sriram is
good. Dialogues,
Jainendra Jain
seems natural.
Salman Khan is exceptional
in a role that fits
him especially in
this controversial
period. He breathes
fire but beneath
the tough exterior
lays a vulnerable
person and this
facet in particular
comes to the fore
in the latter reels.
His emotional outbursts
are splendid. He
has really given
a performance, which
is remarkable and
is surely going
to welcome him back
in the industry.
Bhoomika Chawla
is sober. Her simple,
humble, traditionally
Indian character
should go down very
well with the viewers.
Her performance
is first-rate.
Ravi Kissen is
excellent. The sequence
with Bhoomika prior
to the interval
is well handled
by the actor.
Sarfaraz Khan
is another actor
who catches your
attention with a
flawless performance.
Sachin Khedekar,
Savita Prabhune
and Anang
Desai lend decent
support. Mahima
Chaudhary's
dance number is
quite good.
On the whole, TERE
NAAM is rich
in emotions and
drama. It might
attract some audience
but it has some
how a slow pace
which might not
interest majority.
BORDERLINE:
Can be watched one
time if you really
like to watch melodrama.
